A two person team is a unique combination of endurance and speed to make for a very challenging and strategic race. Unlike solo racing which centers on holding a predicted pace for the entire race or unlike the 4 person team which centers mostly on speed, the two person approach is a combination of the two. Dina and Janet are seasoned veterans in all aspects of endurance cycling and have the speed in their legs to make a significant mark. They will be racing to break a long standing RAAM record while pacing themselves for the long haul. A 3,000 mile long haul.

A little more about our team:

Dina Hannah

Dina Hannah

Dina’s journey as an athlete truly epitomizes a journey to wellness. After many years of struggling with obesity and topping out at over 230 lbs, Dina decided it was time for a change. She adopted a healthy diet and added in exercise, participating in a number of local 5ks and even garnering a few wins in her Clydesdale division, before being crippled by arthritis. Surgical intervention took the pain away but left her unable to run. A commuter challenge sponsored by her employer inspired Dina to try riding her bike to work and kindled a passion for cycling which has continued to this day. Since then, Dina has grown into an accomplished cyclist, becoming the 2012 Utah State Cat 4 Road Race Champion as well as finishing first place in her category in several endurance races, including LOTOJA (Logan to Jackson), Tour de Park City, Desperado Duel and Furnace Creek 508. Dina competed with the first Love, Sweat and Gears RAAM 4-woman team, working together to win the 2012 event in an impressive 7 days, 36 min! During this time, Dina was also diagnosed with degenerative hip disease, a result of her early obesity, genetics and a traumatic hip injury. She underwent a total hip replacement in late January 2013 and came back just 8 months later to win the shortened Furnace Creek 508 (aka Trona 363) in just 23 hrs 20 min. Dina met her hero and teammate Janet Christiansen, a multiple RAAM finisher and icon in the women’s endurance cycling world, at the 2012 RAAM finish line and again during the 2013 Furnace Creek race. These short encounters gave rise to the formation of their 2015 2-woman RAAM team. They are excited to race together, with the support of Love, Sweat and Gears, and promise their fans a very entertaining and even inspiring race!
