Today, there is no place in North Dakota that specializes in end-of-life care in a true home setting. Time is precious, and for many North Dakotans in need of hospice care, much of that time is spent in a non-home setting when in-home hospice care is not an option.

Now, a group of caring community leaders in Bismarck, ND – the hometown for most of the Love, Sweat & Gears 2022 team – are working together to solve this gap in care with the creation of Gaia Home. An enclave of residential units and community spaces, Gaia Home will be one of the first dedicated homes of its kind in the state with qualified medical care specializing in the end-of-life journey. It will provide families and their loved ones with adequate space to live in, gather, connect, reminisce, and rest in privacy and peace, giving them the chance to truly treasure their precious time together during the final season of life.

The Love, Sweat & Gears racers are cherishing the nature of life through our participation in the 2022 Race Across America, with hopes that our efforts will help families in our community do the same with their loved ones at Gaia Home.
