Bill spent his formative years in Wayland, MA before moving to College Station, TX to complete high school and eventually attending college in the upper Midwest. Bill spent 28 years coaching basketball. 19 years as a high school boys’ basketball coach and high school science instructor and for the last nine years has been the men’s basketball coach at Minnesota North Rainy River (CC) and is now the athletic director as well.

Bill took up competitive cycling as part of triathlon training in 2017; eventually developing more of a passion for riding then swimming and running. Bill has completed Ironman Wisconsin (3x) as well as the Longhorn 500 (2x) and the Race Across the West (2022).

John and Bill are proud to team up with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) as many of their family and friends have served our country and it is to them that we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude. One of the crew members and lifelong friend/mentor, Don Miller (Coach), is a veteran that served in the Vietnam War. John Gill’s father also served our country and saw combat during Vietnam – John’s story will be shared on the DAV site in the near future.

Bill has three children: Billy (30) Western Nebraska CC, Hunter (27) Cayuga, ND, and Mia (18).
