Julie Lyons
Julie is pre-title IX athlete who found the joy of sport in her 40’s. She grew up actively enjoying the great outdoors and a variety of outdoor sports, Julie discovered competitive sports much later in life. Since discovering her inner athlete, she has competed in multiple distances of triathlon from sprint to ironman.
More recently, her focus has turned to endurance cycling. She has been part of a record setting women’s team in 2010 for RAW (Race Across the West) as well as three time (2012, 2013, 2015) women’s team champion in RAAM (Race Across AMerica), which is a 3000 mile cross country race. In 2016, she joined forces with Jerry as part of a four person team with two handcyclists setting a 468 mile cross state record from the western border of Colorado to the eastern border. After a total knee replacement in 2016, she went on to become a record breaking age group Champion at the Gran Fondo New York World Championships as well as breaking the age group record at the World Time Trial Championships, a six hour solo race held in Borrego Springs, California
As co-founder of Love, Sweat & Gears, a non-profit organization, Julie finds great inspiration in coaching others to reach their athletic potential as well as finding and embracing new challenges for herself while fundraising for charitable causes. When she is not riding her bike, you can find her coaching either in a team setting or with individual athletes. Julie has lived in Colorado for most of her life and has an energetic husband, two remarkable daughters, one genius son-in-law, and an amazing dog.
