2024 – Solo – Sancho followed up her Race Across the West (RAW) journey in 2021 by participating in a few smaller local bike rides with her team in Colorado, as well as a handful of running events to remind her that she enjoys cycling much more than she enjoys running. She also had the opportunity to gain valuable perspective off the saddle when she joined the support crew for the amazing Love, Sweat & Gears 2022 4-Woman Team who absolutely crushed the Race Across America (RAAM)!
Going into 2023 with RAAM on her calendar, Sancho cannot be more excited to take on this race with her original core team. When this team was faced with unthinkable adversity during RAW in 2021, they chose to not let it define them, rather to motivate them. This message echoes with the core mission of our non-profit partner, Adaptive Adventures, who represents how cycling, sport and/or adventure is a powerful means of overcoming adversity and is incredibly empowering.
Fun Fact: Because the question is likely lingering – why the name Sancho? Well, you can believe one of two storylines. The first being that she is viewed as a loyal comrade amidst the great adventures she takes with her team. Or the second being that somehow Coach Julie misheard her name as being this when she introduced herself when they met. In both cases, the common theme of cycling is embedded and brings her to where she is today, so Sancho is here to stay!
